World’s Hardest Game is not one of those games. It is very easy to find yourself stuck on a level, but you should not give up! Some may be surprised to see Sekiro not included in games listed in the number three spot. The truth is, while Sekiro is also a FromSoftware release, it’s not a ‘Souls’ game. While it shares many similarities with Dark Souls, Elden Ring, etc, this is a hard-as-nails single-player-only adventure. In a Souls game, you can summon allies to help you take down a difficult boss, essentially letting them share the load. However, in Sekiro, players either “git good” or they die trying – many times.
Just one…more…try.The gameplay features a single bird, that you control with one button to fly higher to reach the next area. There’s something about Flappy Bird that gets under your skin and makes you determined to keep going – no matter how many phones you get through which makes it one of the hardest games of all time.

World of Horror seems to hit all its goals. While its approach to horror is rather derivative of Junji Ito, it’s applied in a creative way and with a vision of its own. I can’t say I was blown away because it really is exactly the game that it claims to be. However, I was immensely satisfied. It’s a wonderfully modular experience, but if you’re deathly afraid of numbers, then that’s where you’ll find the real horror.

World of Horror has been in Early Access since 2020. I knew from the beginning that it was something that interested me, but I held off on trying it. I wanted to review it, so the moment I was given access to its 1.0 candidate, I dove in. It has been living in my brain ever since.
