The player began the game by visiting the city and country where the crime took place, and then obtaining hints from the bystanders on where the thief went next, leading them on a chase around the world to find the thief before they “get away”. In the process, the player collected clues about the villain’s identity to determine who the culprit is. When the player reached their final destination, the player presented the accurate warrant to arrest the villain.

This game, released in 2004, is the first in the series to give the player complete control of a character in a 3-dimensional world. The avatar, Cole, must maneuver through stages including a museum in New York City, the beaches of New Zealand, and Machu Picchu. The player fights against Carmen’s robots and spirits to prevent her from stealing an enchanted diamond, the repository of all the knowledge of the nations.

In the early 1990s, in response to the successful Carmen Sandiego franchise, “editor Sharon Shavers was tasked with turning the games into a book series”. She gave the responsibility to John Peel. His research consisted of playing all the games, and this was followed by “Sharon and work out a format for the series” before he commenced writing. While in the past his natural tendency to add jokes to his work had been looked down upon, “Sharon asked to put more in”. The art was done by Allan Neuwirth. The premise of each choose-your-own-adventure book is that “you are the detective”, and each title features “four exciting detective adventures inside!”. The books are written in the second person and in present tense, and have removable inserts that provided clues and the identities of the villains. The books are published by the Canadian branch of Golden Books Publishing. Western Publishing was planning a September 1991 debut. Inspired by the video games, Peel wrote 16 new cases in the original four-book series. The books came with insert cards which became important in solving the cases.

NEW YORK — The Yankees vs. Dodgers Fall Classic shifts to New York for World Series Game 3 on Monday night and it’s the first time a Fall Classic game has been in the Big Apple since 2015 (when the Mets hosted the Royals). It’s the first Yankees home World Series game since 2009, when they clinched the title in Game 6. The Dodgers enter Game 3 with a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series, but by no means is it over.

The Yankees rotation hasn’t been nearly as good. Game 3 starter Clarke Schmidt was in trouble early and out of the game quickly. He opened with a four-pitch walk to leadoff hitter Ohtani — who was in the Dodgers’ lineup despite dislocating his shoulder in Game 2 — and two batters later, Freeman homered on a two-strike pitch to give the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead. Schmidt walked the first batter of the third inning, too, and Mookie Betts drove in that run. Schmidt was pulled after two more walks loaded the bases in the third, making this the first time all year that he failed to get through at least four innings. Yankees Game 2 starter Carlos Rodón also failed to get through four.

Now, the series comes down to Game 4 when the Yankees will have their backs against the wall with rookie starter Luis Gil on the mound. The Dodgers, in firm control of the series, will have a bullpen game, with an opportunity to sweep their way into history.

Facing Yankees reliever Tim Hill, Freddie Freeman popped out to short. Hill struck out Tommy Edman to end the inning.

In 18 regular season starts, Yoshinobu Yamamoto never went at least six innings without allowing more than one hit, but he did it in Game 2 of the World Series. His 6 1/3 innings completely quieted the Yankees offense, making a three-run game for much of the night feel like a blow out.

“I appreciate it. It really is cool,” Freeman said of the fans chanting his name. “Walking up to the plate my first at-bat today, it’s hard not to have a smile on the inside. You try hard to lock it in. I only get 30 seconds to get up there. It’s just special to the fans to embrace, appreciate, and we were able to deliver another win for them tonight.”

Momentum maintained. Yoshinobu Yamamoto saw to that, navigating long at-bats in the first couple innings and limiting traffic. Tommy Edman saw to it, too, slugging a solo homer in the second inning to open the scoring. And then, once Mookie Betts singled off Carlos Rodón with two outs in the third, it felt like the whole building knew what was coming. Teoscar Hernández smoked a go-ahead two-run shot. Then fans chanted “Freddie! Freddie! Freddie!” Freeman, the hero of Game 1, went back-to-back. It felt over at that point. It wasn’t over, as Blake Treinen made clear in the ninth, but it sure felt like it.

Yamamoto struggled in his first postseason start — similiar to how he struggles in his first MLB one; both against the Padres — but since then he’s been mostly effective. He blanked the Padres in Game 5 over five innings, and while he did allow a pair of runs over 4 1/3 innings, he was able to get eight strikeouts while helping the Dodgers clinch the trip to the World Series. Yamamoto has his ups-and-downs, but certainly has the stuff to keep the Dodgers in the game.
