New World: Aeternum is a thrilling action RPG (role-playing game) experience for console and PC players, with a vibrant world, vast and beautiful setting, dynamic, real-time action combat, and the freedom for players to choose how to forge their destiny. The game mechanics offer PvP combat with and without questing. Before leaving a safe-zone settlement, players have the option to set the “flagged state” – which will make them vulnerable to attacks from other flagged players and vice versa. PvP Flagged state is activated after 30 seconds cooldown which starts after players leave the zone of settlement.

New World was first revealed in September 2016, at TwitchCon. Amazon Game Studios announced they would be working on their first three PC games: Breakaway, Crucible and New World. In March 2018, Breakaway was cancelled, leaving the teams to focus on the other two titles, and on October 9, 2020, Relentless Studios announced the cancellation of Crucible, citing the inability to see a sustained future as the reason for cancellation. The studio shifted to aid development of New World instead. On February 16, 2021, it was announced that the game is set to release on August 31, 2021.

I’ve made comments in other reviews about downloadable games like Penny Arcade and Strong Bad in that these games capture the very essence and love of what it is to be a video game. Scott Pilgrim stands firmly in those ranks. It’s a love letter to gaming. The people that created their game knew their stuff, and the end result is something special, once again reminding me why I love this hobby so much.

The music? I don’t remember a lot of “modern” gaming music. Not in the sense like a NES or Genesis classic. I’ve been humming the music all week. It’s catchy, infectious chiptune music that only complements the action further popular culture definition sociology.

Initially choosing from either Scott, Ramona, Kim Pine, or Stephen Stills, up to four players must fight their way through the streets of Toronto, Canada in seven levels. Each stage is made up of multiple sections, culminating in a battle at the end with one of Ramona’s exes. Around each stage there are many shops, some of them hidden, as well as destructible objects and weapons that can be picked up. The way characters progress and level up is similar to Castle Crashers and earlier levels can be revisited.

So we gave the industry at large a blank canvas on which to determine their own criteria of “best”, to see where the chosen games differ – and where they’re similar – to the traditionally accepted canon. That meant gathering together a massive collective of our favourite developers, streamers, directors and journalists in the business. Think of it as an “Avengers assemble” moment.

Like much of the Metroid franchise, Prime’s existence feels like a borderline miracle and its recent Remastered incarnation does nothing to dissuade us of that notion. Created by the Texas-based Retro Studios largely in the space of just two years, it took the series themes of isolation and exploration and transplanted them into what is still Nintendo’s only first-person shooter of note.

World War 3 is thankfully not a thing in real life (for now) but it is a new FPS game that strives to shake up the genre and find its place amongst the FPS giants which are slated for release this fall: Halo Infinite, COD Vanguard, and Battlefield 2042.

The Lands of Ice and Fire revealed that Vaes Dothrak is in the northeast corner of the Dothraki Sea, and Qarth is roughly straight south from it along the same line of longitude, though on the opposite side of Essos. East of both Vaes Dothrak and Qarth are the largest mountain chain in the known world, the massive Bone Mountains, which form a nearly impenetrable spine stretching from the southern coast to the northern coast of the continent. There are only a few passes between the Bone Mountains, forming a major barrier for west-east travel. Thus “everything east of the Bone Mountains” and “everything east of the Dothraki Sea and Qarth” are interchangeable phrases. Knowledge of lands east of this clearly defined dividing line is very limited, though the maesters of the Citadel do have a rough map of it. The lands around the Jade Sea are in contact with Qarth through regular sea trade routes, such as the great empire of Yi Ti. Asshai is located at the far eastern edge of the Jade Sea and is little visited, due to its ill repute.

I’ve lived in Atlanta for 30 years, and I’ve long heard this talk in barbershops and sports bars. Some Black fans say the team has few, if any, African American players they can relate to. Others believe the team left Atlanta because its suburban White fans felt uncomfortable coming to games downtown, where they were surrounded by Black people.

Now, as the Dodgers prepare to travel to Yankee Stadium for at least the next two games, the team will anxiously await news about Ohtani, whose injury silenced the crowd and changed the atmosphere of the game.
