If you’ve missed the sort of challenge afforded by the likes of Ghosts ‘n Goblins or the 8- and 16-bit Super Mario Bros. titles, Super Meat Boy is right up your pixellated alley. The titular Meat Boy is… well, a boy made of meat, and he’s attempting to rescue a damsel in distress (she’s made out of bandages, by the way). She happens to be located on the other side of many, many screens of blades, needles, enemies and bosses.

It is a straight old-school brawler against a wave of endless, nameless enemies. The game plays like a trope of every big name brawler out there, but instead of feeling rehashed and “been there, done that”, it’s all a loving homage. Sure, you’ve done some of the scenarios, but not all in the same game at once. It’s fun to go it alone. It’s crazy to go 4 players at once.
On December 30, 2014, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game and its DLC were delisted from the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, possibly due to the license expiring. In May 2020, approaching the film and game’s 10 year anniversary, both O’Malley and Wright tweeted Ubisoft asking to bring the game back alongside a re-release of the film. In August 2020, O’Malley tweeted that Ubisoft has reached out to him. In September 2020, Ubisoft announced Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition, a remaster of the original game including both DLC packs’ contents, for a January 14, 2021 release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox One, Amazon Luna, and Stadia. On January 8, 2021, it was revealed that Limited Run Games would release a physical version of the game, alongside several special edition releases with additional physical bonuses
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World received a dose of DLC for both PS3 and X360, adding Knives Chau as a playable character among other extras, but a delay in an upgrade patch to the game over Xbox Live and PSN left players unable to use the new content straight away, as well as missing out on achievements and trophies.
Four years later, fans’ prayers were answered, as on August 13th, 2020, he said that Ubisoft has reached out to him, and on September 10th, 2020, the Ubiforward event confirmed a re-release of the game as Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition. Complete Edition was made available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Amazon Luna, Google Stadia, and PC through Ubisoft Connect, Epic Game Store, and Humble Bundle on January 14th, 2021, and includes the Knives Chau and Wallace Wells DLC. It was eventually added to Steam on January 6th, 2023.
