It’s a mystery game that empowers its players to actually solve its otherworldly cold cases for themselves, relying on the real detective work of observation and deduction to uncover its secrets rather than highlighted objects and scripted set pieces. When I was famished for Dungeons and Dragons, Divinity: Original Sin 2 filled that void for me. Red Dead Redemption 2 is something else entirely. It’s a much more methodical, critical, and character-driven Western that feels closer to Heaven’s Gate, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, and Unforgiven. That sudden shift in tone (as well as the game’s more “realistic” controls and mechanics) inspired a lot of people to ride away from RDR 2 and never look back.

Indeed, this game raised the bar for RPGs and open-world games in a way that often makes it hard to play other titles without finding your mind slowly drifting back towards this triumph. Any chance on you making any map makers for the book characters? I know Dark Horse has made some but they only cover the houses in Westeros and not all of them. May be a good market for this considering it would be fun to reread the books and move the markers around these maps while reading.

Roberts offered his unofficial opinion that it isn’t really an “inconsistency”, because again, the world map he drew is intended to be a map written by educated people in Westeros, and their knowledge about semi-mythical lands of the very far east is simply inaccurate to begin with (such as real-life maps produced in Medieval Europe that got the geography of China completely wrong). Thus neither the map the TV series was using nor his map can really be said to be an “accurate” map of Yi Ti and the regions of the Farther East.
