What is the best game in the world
Here’s what the Yankees are trying to avoid in Game 2 on Saturday night at Dodger Stadium: Teams that have lost the first two games on the road in all 2-3-2 series are 11-45 in those series razor a2. In the World Series, specifically, they are 7-27.
The Yankees are still down 3-1 and face dire odds in this World Series, but they did what they needed to do on Tuesday. Of the 24 teams that have fallen behind 3-0 in a World Series, 21 went on to lose Game 4, so the Yankees can at least say they showed more fight than their predecessors. They’re the first to win such a Game 4 since 1970.
But when the Rev. Michael Clayton Harris, co-host of the Red & Rev. Sports Show, attended a recent Braves game at Truist Park, he sat in a crowd of overwhelmingly White fans in a predominantly White suburb while a soundtrack of mostly rock and country music played over the sound system.

Game 1 world series
“Just liked the matchup,” Boone said. “The reality is he’s been throwing the ball really well the last few weeks as he’s gotten ready for this. I knew with one out there, it would be tough to double up Shohei if Tim Hill gets him on the ground and then Mookie (Betts) behind him is a tough matchup there. So felt convicted with Nestor in that spot.”
Yeah, it was a key to victory, all right. He’s healthy enough. Healthy enough to leg out a triple. Healthy enough to smack a game-winning, come-from-behind, extra-inning grand slam. Healthy enough to jump the railing to hug his dad. Bet your ankle doesn’t hurt a bit when you’re walking on air.
The Astros added lefty Will Smith — the closer for the champion Atlanta Braves a year ago — to the roster for this round. Dusty Baker had a perfect situation to use him with lefties Brandon Marsh and Kyle Schwarber leading off the fifth against a tiring Justin Verlander. Marsh hit .188 against lefties and Schwarber .193 this season.

Game 2 world series
The games and series blur together but any conversation you have about this postseason boils down to: “This has been pretty fun, huh?” As a reporter, if you’re not covering this series, it’s easy to settle into a baseball evangelist role, sending slackjawed tweets and starting IRL conversations with “Did you know …” factoids straight out of a Jayson Stark column.
After Juan Soto tied the game with his solo homer in the top of the third, Carlos Rondón retired Miguel Rojas and Shohei Ohtani needing just one more out to get out of the inning with the game still tied.
Arizona’s offense did not strike out until the eighth inning — they struck out 14 times in Game 1, their most since Sept. 8 — and the 6-7-8-9 hitters in the lineup went a combined 7 for 13 with five runs scored, four runs driven in, three walks, and one strikeout in Game 2. The D-backs won Game 2 because their starter was better and because their bottom of the lineup did more damage.
