Though it can feel like it runs a bit short and the difficulty spikes can be rather intense, we’d give this one a strong recommendation to anybody looking for a fun, short game to play in co-op. Let’s just hope it sticks around for longer than four years this time.

This creativity is ever present throughout the game. While the first level just brings some generic Toronto dudes as bad guys, as the game goes on the enemies increase in range. Level 2, on Lucas Lee’s film set, features men in Godzilla costumes, aliens in flying saucers, and Indiana Jones-style closing walls to escape from. The bosses—apart from Lee himself, ironically—swing for the fences too, adding in tons of visual effects and special abilities to make them feel like so much more than just a tough punch sponge, but instead a clearly defined old school videogame boss.

If there was ever going to be a poster child game for the perils of an all-digital future it’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game. After releasing alongside the feature film back in 2010, the retro-inspired beat ‘em up essentially disappeared from existence a few years later. Another World is a cinematic platform action-adventure game designed by Éric Chahi and published by Delphine Software in November 1991. In North America it was published as Out of This World. The game tells the story of Lester, a young scientist who, as a result of an experiment gone wrong, finds himself on a dangerous alien world where he is forced to fight for his survival.

Out of This World is a landmark game for a host of reasons, from the 2D polygonal work to its excellent narrative. I think what strikes me most about the game, even today, is its ability to tell a compelling story without holding up flashing signs. Without text or speech, you have to find the game’s emotional core on your own as well as solve its series of challenges. If you want to see a major influence in motion, hunt down a copy of Out of This World for the PC or consoles. Or, if you want the purest experience, dust off an Amiga. The reward is worth the effort.

This is a classic. Also worth mentioning is Prince of Persia and Flashback. I played it on the Amiga as Another World, and judging from the screenshots the Amiga version is clearly the way to go. The graphics are incredible, and I like FINALLY learning the atrociraptor’s names! (Although I am still waiting for Red…) I was kinda like “I want Blue and Echo tho-“ and a few months later BOOM! Bumpy, Blue, Echo, and now Charlie are here! Staying tuned for Delta! Admittedly it is kind of hard to advance in fast paces, but I suppose that’s a good thing- and I really like the petting dinosaur feature. The one thing I request is that we can name the individual dinosaurs. I have a Spinosaurus, and I would love nothing more than to officially name him Spencer. I also love my raptor (standard) and want to name him something cute too. I highly recommend this game, but it is a bit of a waiting game, so if you download, prepare to have some patience. Also, I missed the Echo event and is pretty bummed because she’s my favorite. The named dinosaurs should be able to accessed. I don’t care if it costs a ridiculous about of bucks, or even like 5-10 USD for the four main raptors. I want Echo so badly, but I had issues with my tablet during the event. So maybe make Bumpy, Ghost, Red, Echo, Blue, Panthera, Tiger, Charlie, and Delta more accessible if you miss the events.

Admittedly it is kind of hard to advance in fast paces, but I suppose that’s a good thing- and I really like the petting dinosaur feature. The one thing I request is that we can name the individual dinosaurs. I have a Spinosaurus, and I would love nothing more than to officially name him Spencer. I also love my raptor (standard) and want to name him something cute too. I highly recommend this game, but it is a bit of a waiting game, so if you download, prepare to have some patience. Also, I missed the Echo event and is pretty bummed because she’s my favorite. The named dinosaurs should be able to accessed. I don’t care if it costs a ridiculous about of bucks, or even like 5-10 USD for the four main raptors. I want Echo so badly, but I had issues with my tablet during the event. So maybe make Bumpy, Ghost, Red, Echo, Blue, Panthera, Tiger, Charlie, and Delta more accessible if you miss the events.
