The decision is currently made roughly seven years in advance of the tournament, though the hosts for the 2022 tournament were chosen at the same time as those for the 2018 tournament.

Dying Light is arguably best known as that game that combined parkour and open-world zombie killing, which…well, that’s honestly a pretty good summary of the highlights of the experience. Yet, that simplified summary does nothing to capture the detail that went into Dying Lights‘ smaller qualities (such as its incredible arsenal of weapons and tools) as well as the care that went into its narrative and other major scripted moments. It’s truly astonishing that this game combines seemingly contradictory core concepts like parkour movement, survival, and action as well as it does. – MB
Thanks to a satisfying combat system, gripping story, and pitch-perfect voice acting, Batman: Arkham City is widely regarded as perhaps the best superhero game ever made. Even the more ambitious Arkham Knight struggled to recreate the magic of this game. – AG
