Participation in the Main Event peaked that year, with 8,773 players.

She won one of the smallest prizes ($5,580) in WSOP history. By 2007, the popularity of the Ladies Event had grown to the point that it became the first ladies-only event to have a prize pool greater than $1,000,000. They opened a six-run lead in the third inning and got a solid start from All-American Ryan Prager, who was pitching on short rest. He threw four good innings before handing the ball over to the bullpen, which held off the Volunteers’ comeback bid.
The Volunteers earned their first baseball national championship, defeating the Texas A&M Aggies 6-5 in Game 3 of their best-of-three finals series on Monday at the Men’s College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
Starting pitcher Ryan Prager was the beneficiary of that early offense. He allowed two runs and eight hits over six innings, but also struck out six Vols. The sophomore left-hander was Texas A&M’s top starter this season, compiling an 8–1 record and 3.10 ERA in 17 starts with 114 strikeouts in 87 innings coming into Saturday’s game.
