New world game
Yankees: Jose Trevino got the start in Game 3 over Austin Wells, who has gone 4-for-41 this postseason and 1-for-8 over the first two World Series games. Rizzo and Volpe flipped spots in the order from Games 1 and 2 https://menrich-press.com/.

The New York Yankees will try to make history on Wednesday night in World Series Game 5. The Yankees dropped the first three games against the Dodgers in the 2024 Fall Classic, but they kept their season alive on Tuesday with a come-from-behind win in Game 4. Anthony Volpe hit a grand slam in a game that will also be remembered for a bizarre fan interference incident involving Mookie Betts in the first inning.
From a bad-blood battle between the Dodgers and Padres in the NLDS — ending in Los Angeles overcoming its rival in Game 5 at home — to numerous Shohei Ohtani home runs, from the underdog Mets taking down their division foe Phillies 3-1 to the Tigers’ survival through the Wild Card round before they fell to Cleveland in five, the incoming World Series has a lot to live up to.

Game 1 world series
Gleyber Torres did not hit a home run — as you can see in the clip below, a fan (wearing a Dodgers jersey, of all things) reached over the wall to grab the ball. It wasn’t a particular tough call, so far as these things go. Torres instead had to settle for a double:
A tense, tight, back-and-forth affair ended in dramatic fashion, with the Dodgers coming away with a 6-3 victory on Freddie Freeman’s walk-off grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning. It was the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history, and just the second in all of postseason history.
This will be the dozenth dalliance between the Dodgers and Yankees going back to 1941 but the first since 1981. Given the investments these two teams pour into their rosters and their postseason pedigree — in the Wild Card era (since 1995), the Yankees have reached the playoffs 25 times and the Dodgers 18 — it was only a matter of time before they simultaneously overcame October’s unpredictability and found each other in the fall.
This became the third consecutive World Series Game 1 to go to extra innings, and, thanks to Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s single and two stolen bases, the Yankees had runners on the corners with one out in the 10th. When Anthony Volpe grounded to short, Edman made a nice diving stop on the ball but had trouble with the transfer and couldn’t complete a potential double play. Chisholm motored home.

Game 2 world series 2024
Purchased by Guggenheim Baseball Management in 2012, the Dodgers hired Andrew Friedman from Tampa Bay to head their baseball operations two years later. He boosted the front office with a multitude of analytics and performance science staff, and ownership supplied the cash.
Freeman hit a two-run single to tie the Series record of 12 RBI, set by Bobby Richardson over seven games in 1960, and was voted Series MVP. With the Dodgers one out from losing Friday’s opener, Freeman hit a game-ending grand slam reminiscent of Kirk Gibson’s homer off Oakland’s Dennis Eckersley in 1988’s Game 1 that sparked Los Angeles to the title.
Freeman, still nursing that sprained right ankle, went deep again, and this time he had the company of NLCS MVP Tommy Edman and All-Star Teoscar Hernández and the backing of 6 1/3 one-hit innings from Yamamoto. The party quieted when Ohtani went down, and the Yankees had everybody on the edge of their seats when they plated a run and loaded the bases in the ninth. But the Dodgers protected their home turf.
Faced with injuries, the Dodgers acquired Flaherty, Edman and reliever Michael Kopech ahead of the trade deadline, and all became important cogs in the title run. The additions boosted payroll to $266 million, third behind the Mets and the Yankees, plus a projected $43 million luxury tax.

The Philadelphia Phillies, of course, did not ask for this ridicule in the third inning of a 6-5 Game 1 victory of the World Series. The fans at Minute Maid Park were mocking the momentary hubris displayed a couple of weeks ago in The Bronx, when the Yankees earned an American League Championship Series berth. Walloped a few days later, the New York crowd received its receipt from the Astros.
Gary D: “The Dodgers have a top four that you can’t pitch around. And they have a long lineup, too. Their relief staff is deep enough so that if one pitcher isn’t having a good night they can bring in four or five other good pitchers. So if their starters pitch well, as they’ve done so far, it’s really tough to beat them. Maybe one or two games, sure, but four is just not too likely.”
A historic rivalry between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers resumes in Los Angeles for game one of the World Series. The last time the teams met in the fall classic was 1981. NBC News’ Morgan Chesky reports.
When is the game and how can I watch it?Game 2 of the World Series is being played right now at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. All World Series games will start at the same time and be televised on FOX.
Dodgers: Freeman has played through a badly sprained right ankle all postseason, but that didn’t stop him from being the Game 1 hero with the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history. Freeman is expected back in the lineup in Game 2.
