Star wars open world game
The basic conceit of the setting is, “what if the British Isles were the size of South America?” to the point of being a continent unto themselves. Martin has stated that the continent of Westeros is specifically based on an over-sized British Isles, and that it is roughly the size of South America https://mylifeoflove.com/understanding-the-savior-complex-insights-and-implications/. The “Seven Kingdoms” of Westeros are loosely analogous to the Anglo-Saxon Heptarchy, the seven Anglo-Saxon kingdoms which they established in the British Isles after their invasion. The North is intended to be loosely analogous to Scotland. Just as the Anglo-Saxons invaded the Celtic inhabitants of Britain, the Andals invaded the First Men who lived in Westeros. Centuries later, the Andals were themselves conquered by the Targaryens, in a loose equivalent of the Norman Conquest. Essos is loosely based on Eurasia: it was once dominated by Valyria, their equivalent of the Roman Republic, which fell several hundred years ago. Valyria’s surviving colonies went on to become the Free Cities, which share several features with medieval Italy or other medieval urban areas in Western Europe. The Dothraki from the central-eastern plains of Essos are loosely based on steppe nomads such as the Mongols (with some additional elements of Amerindian plains peoples). Qarth is somewhat like Constantinople or India, though Martin has said that racially the pale white Qartheen aren’t based on any real life group. Yi Ti, even further east than Qarth, is analogous to Imperial China and the Far East. Sothoryos is analogous to Africa, but just as Western Europe did not possess much knowledge of Africa or East Asia in the Middle Ages, neither do people in Westeros. The audience shares the perspective of the characters, because of Martin’s narration (shifting third-person limited) style, and thus we only know what they know. It’s a thematic point that the lands north of the Wall are unexplored and poorly mapped, just as they would be to a Roman soldier standing on Hadrian’s Wall looking north to the edge of the known world. Martin has stated that he therefore will never reveal an omniscient map of the entire world his stories take place in:
The Game of Thrones book series offers a more detailed version of the world map than the TV show. While the show focuses primarily on Westeros and Essos, the books delve deeper into the geography of the Game of Thrones world, including regions like Sothoryos, Yi Ti, and the Lands Beyond the Wall.
After the death of the beloved Dothraki leader Khal Drogo, Vaes Dothrak is where Dany burns and kills the entire Dothraki Khalasar in Game of Thrones season 6. Traditionally, violence is forbidden within Vaes Dothrak, which served as a capital of sorts for the Dothraki, whose leaders met there to trade and settle disputes. Before Dany destroyed their temple and upended their traditions, Vaes Dothrak also served as the permanent residence of the Dosh Khaleen, widows of Khals forced to live out their days as holy women in service to active Khalasars.
Has anyone else noticed that all the peninsulas and other land jutting off from Westeros on the east and west coasts all jut out about the same distance? As an example, the easternmost tip of Dorne extending into the Summer Sea has almost exactly the same longitude as the tips of the other strips of land such as the Fingers and the peninsulas around Blackwater Bay. The same goes for the western coastline. Westeros almost perfectly resembles a rectangle that has simply had some of the edges partially worn away.
The peninsula of Dorne is the southernmost region of Westeros and boasts an extremely unique and liberal culture relative to the rest of the continent. They embrace sexual freedoms and welcome illegitimate children into their families publicly. Historically, this is because Dorne’s House Martell was never conquered by House Targaryen in Game of Thrones – a glimpse into the sociocultural divisions splitting the Westerosi people. This cultural dissonance is also partially due to the region being cut off from the rest of Westeros by the Red Mountains, not unlike the Iberian Peninsula and the Andes Mountains in Europe, and also due to the fact that it was settled by an Essosian people called the Rhoynish and not the First Men or the Andals like the rest of Westeros. Like the North, Dorne has had one major family of rulers for most of its history, but House Martell is currently headless after nearly everyone in the family died in Game of Thrones season 7.
Game 3 world series
Of course, Yankees fans are aware of the only time in baseball history a team has come back after losing the first three games of a best-of-seven series. It was 2004 ALCS when the Red Sox did it to the Yankees en route to their first World Series title in 86 years.
11:40 p.m. HOME RUN— There will be no shut out in Game 3 of the World Series. Alex Verdugo goes yard, taking a pitch from Kopech into right-center field. The Yankees are still down to their last out, but they’ve pulled within two runs.

The Dodgers challenged the call, but it was upheld upon video review even though one angle of the replay convinced Fox broadcasters Joe Davis and John Smoltz that Lux scored. Edman reached first on the fielder’s choice.
NEW YORK – They crammed in crowded 4 and D trains, packed the Bronx’s sports bars and streamed through the Yankee Stadium gates, ready to lend their voices to the comeback cause. But it took all of three batters for those pinstripe-clad fans to be quieted, all of three batters for the seemingly unstoppable Dodgers to assert themselves in one of the most intimidating road environments in sports.
Game 5 world series 2024
NEW YORK – To win it all, the Dodgers had to give it all. Had to stare down an ugly early deficit. Had to empty their bullpen. Had to rally against Gerrit Cole and then against the Yankees’ best relievers. Had to get a World Series-clinching save from starter Walker Buehler, of all people.
It only got worse for the Yankees from there. The unstoppable Freeman smacked a single to center to drive in a pair and make it 5-3. Then Teoscar Hernández lofted a long double off the wall in left-center to bring Betts and Freeman home to tie it at 5, with all the Dodgers’ runs in the inning unearned.
10:22 p.m. — Judge continues his breakout night with a strong at-bat, getting Graterol into a 3-2 hole before walking behind Soto. Chisholm is on deck having hit a home run already tonight as well, and Roberts makes another mound visit.
