So the pressure’s on the boys from the Bronx. And they’ll send Carlos Rodón to the bump hoping/expecting that he’ll build on the adjustments he’s made in this postseason to not let the excitement get the best of him apps for photoshop.
“We’re going to get some tests at some point tonight, tomorrow, and then we’ll know more in the next couple days,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “But the strength was great. The range of motion, good. So we’re encouraged.”
According to Roberts, Ohtani suffered a shoulder subluxation, essentially a partial dislocation less severe than if his shoulder had fully popped out. In immediate postgame tests, Roberts said Ohtani’s shoulder strength and range of motion were good, leaving the team feeling “encouraged” about his status for the rest of this Series.

10:22 p.m. — Judge continues his breakout night with a strong at-bat, getting Graterol into a 3-2 hole before walking behind Soto. Chisholm is on deck having hit a home run already tonight as well, and Roberts makes another mound visit.
It was that fifth inning that really cost the Yankees a chance to hop on a flight to Los Angeles and continue their attempt to become the first team to overcome a 3-0 deficit to win the World Series. Their talent won out against the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Guardians in October. The Dodgers were too good for that to happen again. — Jorge Castillo
Los Angeles erased a 5-0 deficit thanks to some incredibly sloppy play by the Yankees in the fifth inning, then rallied against New York’s bullpen in the eighth inning to take the lead. Game 3 starter Walker Buehler came out of the bullpen to get the save in Game 5. Here is the final out of the 2024 season:
“The banning to tonight’s game was kind of expected, but the fact my little brother and his friends can’t use our season tickets tonight has really pissed me off,” he said in a text message to NBC News. “It’s not like they can go to the next game.”

Game 3 world series 2024
The two starters, Flaherty and Cole, kept the game scoreless through the first four innings. After Enrique Hernández hit a triple in the bottom of the fifth inning, he scored the game’s first run via a sacrifice fly by Will Smith. In the top of the sixth, Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run home run after a Juan Soto walk, giving the Yankees a 2–1 lead and knocking Flaherty out of the game. Cole was removed from the game after giving up a leadoff single to Teoscar Hernández in the seventh. In the bottom of the eighth, Shohei Ohtani hit a ball off the top of the outfield wall and reached second base, but Juan Soto’s throw got away from second baseman Gleyber Torres, and Ohtani advanced to third base. The next batter, Mookie Betts, hit a sacrifice fly to score Ohtani and tie the game.
Stanton’s complete absence of anything resembling speed after multiple lower-half injuries hurt the Yankees in the regular season. But it was a little surprising to learn that Stanton doesn’t even have another gear of speed for the World Series, especially given how he’s been able to lock in at the plate this postseason. After being limited by Flaherty in Game 1, the Yankees’ offense started very quickly in Game 5, scoring the first runs for the first time in the series. In the bottom of the first inning, Juan Soto drew a walk, which was followed by a first-pitch two-run home run by Aaron Judge and a solo home run by Jazz Chisholm Jr. to give the Yankees an early 3–0 advantage. In the bottom of the second, Anthony Volpe hit a double and scored on an RBI single by Alex Verdugo, extending the Yankees’ lead to 4–0, and chasing Flaherty from the game after just four outs. Giancarlo Stanton led off the third inning with a first-pitch solo home run off Ryan Brasier, pushing the Yankees’ lead to 5–0. Through four innings, Cole held the Dodgers hitless and allowed just two walks.

While the Dodgers will now take a crucial 2-0 advantage to New York, they might do it with far less star power. NL MVP favorite Shohei Ohtani, who became the first player in baseball history to record 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in one season, left the game in the seventh inning after suffering a left shoulder injury on a stolen base attempt.
Phillips threw 18 pitches in a scoreless sixth inning of a 10-5 NLCS-clinching Game 6 win over the New York Mets. Manager Dave Roberts planned to have Phillips pitch the seventh inning of the bullpen game, but when Phillips complained of arm fatigue, Roberts pivoted and sent Daniel Hudson out for the seventh.
“It’s really tough,” Phillips said. “I mean, this is a historic week in Dodgers history, and I want nothing more than to compete and be a part of this. … I’m very disheartened by how things have gone for me personally.”
Top of the seventh: After Giancarlo Stanton popped out, Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto was relieved by Anthony Banda. Yamamoto received a standing ovation from the Dodgers’ faithful as he walked to the dugout.
He is a perfectionist. He had provided a pretty perfect call of a pretty perfect moment the night before. In six words, he had delivered a magical homage to the best broadcaster in baseball history and the most dramatic moment in Dodgers history.
