I haven’t spoken much about Star Wars Outlaws’ characters or story, mostly to avoid spoilers. I will say that I really came to like Kay over time, and that the crew members she recruits for the heist are an interesting bunch. Gedeek, a nervy and idealistic droidsmith whose banter with Kay paints a fun picture of their childhood friendship, is a standout. However, Kay simply doesn’t spend enough time with these shipmates to truly sell or explore their connections, and a couple of late-game narrative turns rely on believing that certain characters are fast friends when the game hasn’t really provided enough to support that. Massive does find dimension in Kay over the critical path’s 35-40 hours. I enjoyed having a protagonist who would call the Rebellion on their bullshit when necessary, for example, when so many Star Wars stories are sharp binary, good-versus-evil tales where the Rebels are bastions of heroism.

Ever since I played Skyrim back in 2011, I’ve always wanted a game like that but Star Wars. I know there’s Knights of the Old Republic (and that’s being remade for next gen), but you’d think they would’ve developed one recently. Jedi Fallen order was really good but it wasn’t quite an open world like Skyrim or Breath of the Wild. Maybe I’ve missed something in the game announcements but I feel like a game like that would be a massive hit.

Star Wars’ history with video games is decidedly hit and miss, but we’re happy to report that Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga undoubtedly in the former category, and if you have any fondness for the films and enjoy talking Lego figures cracking dumb jokes, then you should probably get it played ASAP.

Another World was highly innovative in its use of cinematic effects in both real-time and cutscenes, which earned the game praise amongst critics and commercial success. It also influenced a number of other video games and designers.

If Another World were made today, or one day later, or one day earlier, you maybe would have just had a gun that fired when you pressed the fire button. Maybe you would have gotten another gun, later, which fired really fast, and a third gun, which fired really big bullets. Another World‘s game design, however, was gracefully decided in what we’ve determined was the length of a snap of the creator’s fingers. A gorgeous one-off informed by all that was ever fun in videogames, and all that would ever come to be.

The game was influenced by works that Chahi liked at the time. The art and atmosphere were influenced by science fiction books such as Dune, artists such as Michael Whelan, and comic illustrators such as Richard Corben. Manga such as Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball influenced the way it suggests a lot with very little, character blurring effects such as the use of thin lines to suggest fast motion, and charging power attacks influenced by the Kamehameha. Globle is another version of the famous Wordle puzzle. The difference between Globle is that it focuses on countries and their location on the world map. Globle is an interesting geography guessing game in which a new mysterious country is discovered every day. It bears some resemblance to the game Hot and Cold. The closer you are to the correct guess, the hotter the color. The further you are from a guess, the colder it is. Globle is now played by over a million people daily. Globle is a great way to get some new knowledge of the world, even for geographic geniuses!
