This is a great game! It is not a short game (they do have 4x speed games, but I didn’t play any of them). You also have to learn the game really fast and mostly on your own. There isn’t a tutorial, at least one that I can remember. There is a group chat specifically for help in the game. Other than the loooooooooong time that it takes to play a single map the only other thing I didn’t like was that one of the items in the game that you need to build bases/buildings and produce troops is severely disproportionately needed compared to other resources. So towards the end of the game you may have zero of one that one resource but have fifty thousand of all the rest of the resources…Another great thing about the game is you don’t have to pay to win! I did watch a lot of ads for gold, but never bought any and one the game easily… By easily, I mean I had a rocking strategy… I just noticed I used one instead of won. Yes, I could have gone back and fixed it, but sometimes you just got to let things go so people can go “HA! Dude wrote one instead of won. What an idiot!” And then wonder if they felt like an idiot after they realized the writer left it on purpose and that everything after that was just a waste of their time… GREAT GAME!!!

The Dodgers outbid several teams (including the Yankees) to sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the three-time reigning MVP in Japan, and it was for moments like this: to shut down one of the highest scoring offenses in baseball in a World Series game. The regular season is important, for sure, but games like Game 2 is why the Dodgers gave Yamamoto a record $325 million contract.

Prior to Game 2, the last time Yamamoto completed six innings in a start was June 7, when he fired seven shutout innings at Yankee Stadium. He struck out seven that night, allowed two hits, and threw his three fastest (and 11 of his 13 fastest) pitches as a Dodger. In two starts against the Yankees in 2024, Yamamoto allowed three hits in 13 ⅓ shutout innings.

The rally ultimately full short, but the Yankees did make things interesting against Blake Treinen in the ninth inning. Soto hit a long single off the wall to begin the inning, Giancarlo Stanton smoked a ball off the third base bag, Jazz Chisholm Jr. stroked an RBI single, and Anthony Rizzo took a pitch to the midsection to load the bases with one out.

In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, the world is presented much as in the series, although information about it was revealed much more slowly. No map of Essos existed at all until the publication of A Storm of Swords in 2000, which featured a map of Slaver’s Bay. A Dance with Dragons added a map of the Free Cities in 2011 (after Season 1 aired). No map of the world beyond Westeros was provided during Season 1 of the TV series, through the HBO Viewer’s Guide or other official supplementary materials. The opening credits only briefly depicted Pentos and Vaes Dothrak in such a way as to make their surrounding geography vague.

As stated in The World of Ice & Fire sourcebook (2014), the Order of Maesters in Westeros, and other learned men across the world, have studied astronomy for centuries, and by observing the movements of stars across the night sky, have determined with relative certainty that their world is a round globe. Isolated tribes or simple farm peasants in Westeros who have no education, of course, might still colloquially believe that the world is flat, but they are mistaken. Apparently, their better knowledge of astronomy is one of the reasons they consider one twelve month period to be “a year”: this is how long it takes for the movement of the stars to reset (as their planet moves around its sun – though it hasn’t been stated if they understand that it isn’t the other way around, with the sun orbiting around the world).

As a GGRM devotée and cartophile, and art director for 30 plus years, my heart leapt with joy when I saw your rendering of Map of the Known World. As a boy, I used to await the National Geo’s with MAPS and spent time with those, giving the magazine but cursory attention. I also spent hours drawing “fake worlds” as my friends called them, often inventing languages & even alphabets to mark them. I swear, as a boy, I dreamt of a map which, in retrospect, looked a lot like Old Valyria (can’t get enough about all things Valyrian). So as you might imagine, I am enthralled by your work. And like many, I hunger to know more about the vast, “new” lands to the east of Qarth. How wonderful it is that the best maps can create as many mysteries as they resolve. Your artistry has captured both Mr. Martin’s mystery & magic. Bravo!

With that, the team consolidated an ultraviolet sandbox of F1 sabotage, industrial wine-pressing catastrophes and death by toilet drowning as a globe-trotting murder sim par excellence.

In contrast, over 68 officially licensed Tetris games were developed by over 40 developers and released on over 65 platforms (including iPod and other devices). There are also over 70 unofficial Tetris games, many of which are commercial versions that have been purged due to the Tetris Company’s policy of not approving unauthorized games.

The premise of Minecraft is incredibly simple—mine materials such as stone and wood, and build things with it. Yet, the possibilities are incredibly limitless. The world always begins as a bright sunny day, and you use this time to chop down trees, dig, and maybe even slay a few animals for food. It’s great, until the sun starts to set and the actual enemies start to appear. It’s at this point you realize this is actually a survival game, and you’re forced to either burrow underground or make a quick makeshift wood cabin. Then as the sun rises and you watch all the enemies burn to a crisp, you are finally free to explore again, you are hit with a joyous urge to explore and dive even deeper into the game. One, Virgin, was favourable to Chahi’s game but had suggested that he change it to a point-and-click style adventure game. Chahi had considered changing the game in line with this request but realized “the effort to do this would have been too huge, and some friends who played the game loved it.” Ultimately, he accepted Delphine’s offer in June 1991, and set a tentative release date in November. To meet this deadline, Chahi used storyboards to sketch out the rest of the game’s plot, balancing the overall pacing of the game. One ending captured on these storyboards, but abandoned, was Lester becoming the leader of the alien world. Chahi also argued for his own cover art for the game even with the time crunch for release; he had been disappointed in cover art that was foisted on his games by previous publishers and insisted he be allowed to create it for this game. The game was finished in 1991, which inspired the game’s tagline: “It took six days to create the Earth. Another World took two years”; Chahi noted his own exhaustion at completing this project is mirrored in the near-death of Lester at the end of the game.

A sequel titled Heart of the Alien was developed by Interplay and released exclusively for the Sega CD in 1994. The game is similar in graphics and gameplay, as the player plays as Lester’s alien friend Buddy. Chahi had nothing to do with the development of the sequel, beyond suggesting “redesigning the game from the alien point of view,” by which he meant making an alternative version of the original game but was misunderstood. IGN’s Top 100 games list encompasses the best of the best throughout history, spanning generations of consoles, PCs, handhelds, and more. With Diablo 4, Blizzard Entertainment set out to marry the frenetic action of Diablo 3, the deep RPG systems of Diablo 2, and the dark tone of the original game. It was an ambitious promise, to be sure, but four years and a whole pandemic after the studio announced the long-awaited sequel at BlizzCon 2019, it’s here, and it’s fantastic.

A short Halo 3 campaign mode with a more tangible ending, multiplayer with perhaps the best map pool in the series to date, and the addition of the Forge Editor to create custom maps all raised the bar for Halo. Its first-day sales reached $170 million – somehow more than quadrupling its ridiculous marketing budget – and it became a staple multiplayer game at both high school LAN parties and professional video game tournaments.

The Grand Theft Auto series is one of the most well known video games, even among people who don’t play, and GTA 4 is currently one of the most beloved for its strong emotional connection in its narrative focusing on Niko Bellic’s life. Although it is far from a happy tale, the somber story draws players in. Prior to GTA 4, Grand Theft Auto games did not have as much of an emphasis on moving, emotional stories, and yet this change struck just the right balance in narrative and gameplay.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is a side-scrolling brawler that was made in retro-style to harken back to the 8-bit and 16-bit era of video gaming. The game’s plot is the same as the series it was based on; the story follows a slacker who falls head-over-heels when he meets an out of town delivery girl, Ramona V. Flowers, and he must battle with her seven evil exes in order to continue dating her. Players can play as Scott Pilgrim, Kim Pine, Stephen Stills, and Ramona Flowers as they battle their way across countless goons in a video game version of Toronto and ultimately take down Ramona’s seven evil exes. Like the classic beat ’em up River City Ransom, the game features RPG Elements that allows Scott and his friends to earn money to purchase various items from various stores all throughout Toronto, and gain new abilities and level-up as they beat up enemies.

The game went extra innings, and Dusty Baker turned to starter Luis Garcia over relievers Ryne Stanek and Hunter Brown — not the worst decision, given Garcia’s five scoreless innings in that 18-inning win over the Mariners in the ALDS — but certainly a little questionable with two hard-throwing, effective relievers still in the bullpen. Realmuto greeted him with a line-drive home run just over a leaping Tucker’s glove and into the right-field stands. David Robertson then gutted out the save, getting Aledmys Diaz to ground out with runners on second and third.

Even if the numbers may have favored Cortes, the context left room for doubt. Cortes still got Ohtani to fly out in foul territory thanks to a terrific running catch from Alex Verdugo. Boone then called for the intentional walk of Betts to induce to left-on-left matchup with Freeman.

Minute Maid Park had been loud and proud when Tucker’s Ted Williams swing had produced a solo shot in the second on a Nola changeup and a three-run shot in the third on a sinker. This was a coming-out party for one of the more underrated Astros, a 25-year-old right fielder who can influence the outcome with his bat, glove and legs.
