New world game
The PlayStation 3 version of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game received “generally favorable reviews”, while the Xbox 360 version received “mixed or average” reviews, according to the review aggregation website Metacritic https://fotomodellek.com/.
No matter what, Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game – Complete Edition is the perfect hit of nostalgia. Whether you pick it up digitally or treat yourself to any of the physical goodies on the way from Limited Run Games, this game isn’t a cult favorite without reason.
While gameplay has issues, both solo and multiplayer, everything else is a treat. As far as graphics go, it’s a remaster of a ten-year-old game that even in 2010 embraced a retro aesthetic, so don’t expect anything technically ground breaking or eye popping. Still, the colours are wonderful, and the art is bursting with creativity in every department. Not many games are this fun to look at. The same goes for the soundtrack, which sticks to the simplicity of the videogame cartridge era, but has such an infectious rhythm it’ll stay in your head all day.
Game 1 world series
Playing in the Fall Classic for the first time since 2009, the Yankees squandered one-run leads in the eighth and 10th innings and let Game 1 slip through their fingers with one Freddie Freeman swing at a sold-out and shaking Dodger Stadium on Friday night.
• The similarities with Gibson’s are remarkable — a hobbled superstar in Game 1 at Dodger Stadium. In fact, his and Freeman’s are the only walk-off homers in World Series history where the team was down to its final out. The only other such homer in any postseason round was by Houston’s Yordan Alvarez in the 2022 American League Division Series Game 1.
This became the third consecutive World Series Game 1 to go to extra innings, and, thanks to Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s single and two stolen bases, the Yankees had runners on the corners with one out in the 10th. When Anthony Volpe grounded to short, Edman made a nice diving stop on the ball but had trouble with the transfer and couldn’t complete a potential double play. Chisholm motored home.
• The Dodgers became the 10th team to win a World Series Game 1 in walk-off fashion. They joined the 2023 Rangers, ‘15 Royals, ‘00 Yankees, 1988 Dodgers, 1977 Yankees, 1958 Braves, 1954 Giants, 1949 Yankees and 1939 Yankees. Eight of the nine previous teams went on to win the series, with the Braves being the only loss.
“We played that team really well for the whole entire game,” Yankees left fielder Alex Verdugo said. “At the end of the day, we’re the two best teams out here, so we’re going to come here with our heads held up high, with confidence, and go out here and compete again.”

Game 4 world series 2024
But that means the Yankees’ entire season is now resting on Gil’s shoulders on Tuesday night. And no offense to Gil here, but that’s awfully risky. He has only pitched one game this entire postseason, and while he did fine enough, giving up two runs in four innings, he did walk three and all told was pretty fortunate. He also hasn’t pitched in 10 days – after having 19 days off before his previous start – and oh yeah, he’s a rookie (albeit a 26-year-old rookie) who walked the most batters in the Majors this season.
Take it from someone who attended every single game in the Bronx during the 2009 World Series: Yankee Stadium is usually a lot louder than this. There were occasional moments Monday night when Yankees fans got going a little bit, but after Freeman’s first-inning home run, there was a clear lid on the place they were never able to blast through. That’ll happen when your team doesn’t score a run until the ninth inning and your superstar, your beloved MVP, goes 0-for-3 again. (It is becoming actively painful to watch those slow-motion closeups of Aaron Judge’s face after his at-bats.)
For the first time in baseball history, a player has hit a home run in each of the first four games of the World Series. Freddie Freeman did it again in Game 4, sending a two-run home run to right field in the first inning Tuesday night. It was his fifth extra-base hit of the series after having precisely zero in the NLDS and NLCS.
• The Dodgers and Yankees had a World Series preview June 7-9 at Yankee Stadium, with Los Angeles winning two of the three games. Teoscar Hernández had a go-ahead, two-run double in the 11th inning of the first game, a 2-1 Dodgers win, then hit two homers in an 11-3 rout the next night. The Yanks salvaged the finale with a 6-4 win, powered by Trent Grisham’s three-run homer off Tyler Glasnow.
Through three games, the story of the World Series was slugging. Both teams were hitting under .200 with runners in scoring position, but the Dodgers had five home runs and 11 extra-base hits in Games 1-3. The Yankees had three homers and five extra-base hits. Freeman had almost extra-base hits as the Yankees by himself.
Los Angeles closed within 6-4 in a two-run fifth that included Will Smith’s homer off starter Luis Gil and an RBI grounder by Freeman. Despite a sprained right ankle, Freeman beat a relay to avoid an inning-ending double play on what originally was ruled an out but was reversed in a video review.
